Free Buffett Concert - July 1st

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will be joined by Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Allen Toussaint, Sonny Landreth, Jesse Winchester and additional special guests during a free concert in Gulf Shores, Ala. Scheduled for July 1, the event in the popular vacation spot is being billed as CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From the Gulf Coast.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, June 23rd at 11am, Eastern time, at Ticketmaster.

We will be celebrating Brent's and John's birthdays this month at the DELTA QUEEN after work this Thursday. 
 
Keep in mind we are still collecting for the wildlife.  I have done some research and found an organization in Gulf Shores, AL that needs everything we can get them.  They will share if they can what they receive to other volunteer organizations in the area. 
 
I have arranged for a truck to take all our collections on August 7th. 
 
That leaves us with a good month to collect what we can.

Bus Seats still Available for Atlanta Concert

Ride The Magic “Parrot Head” Bus

The RCPH club has seats available to ANYONE who is planning on attending the Jimmy Buffett concert in Atlanta on April 27th. You do NOT have to be a member of any club, even ours. Just reserve your seat and ride with 50 Parrot Heads to the concert. The bus is BYOB & BYOF. We may have a special donation for the bus ride down, but we are waiting confirmation from a local vendor.

Bus Tickets are $30 a piece. We will be meeting the bus at the Mainstay Suites in Chattanooga (Behind Texas Roadhouse at I-75 & Shallowford Rd)

What does it include?

  • Round trip bus ride from Chattanooga to and from the concert
  • Departure is PROMPTLY at 9:45am. (Please be ready with your gear to pack up the bus by 9:15am)
  • Buffett tunes on the ride down to get you in the mood. (usually a little quieter on the ride back)
  • Restroom on the bus
  • Bring your tents, chairs, coolers, and umbrellas
  • Parking next to Atlanta Parrothead Club Tailgate Party (info below)
  • No open container law
  • No hotels
  • No speeding tickets
  • No DUIs
  • No reason to stop drinking early.

Atlanta Concert Seats Still Available

The River City Parrothead Club still has reserved seats available for Jimmy Buffett’s Atlanta concert on April 27th. Supply is limited, so get them while they last! Tickets are face value, and they are reserved seats under the protective overhang. Not lawn seats.

Updates to the website

BTW, we have been drinking lots of margaritas and rum punch trying to get inspiration for updating our website. We are close to releasing it to the general public, but we’re still adding a few bits here and a few bytes there. It probably could have been done by now if it wasn’t for all the margaritas and rum. But we are having fun trying.

Some things you will see soon:
  • Enhanced look and feel
  • News feeds from some other parrothead related sites around the web
  • Separate section just for the members that will include message boards to discuss anything and everything.
  • Ability for members to submit their own articles and links to interesting sites to be included in the site
  • A photo gallery where members can upload their own pictures (no need to wait on that goofy web admin to put them up)
  • Ability for the executive board to approve and publish member articles, links and to post updates to the news and events on the front page.

Future enhancements due later this year:
  • Electronic Membership application (which can also be printed out and mailed normally, if needed)
  • Electronic payments for memberships, concert tickets, bus rides, t-shirts, etc...
  • Access to all of the above features on your mobile devices.
  • Integration with other social network sites

It should be ready to go live by the Atlanta concert so be ready! This will be your one stop shop for all things Buffett.

Important Change for March meeting

Please be aware that the March Monthly Meeting has been moved. Since many of the regulars are going to be cruizin’, we decided to enjoy a VERY informal and VERY short meeting at Big River Grille, Downtown.

Promptly after the meeting, we’ll enjoy the new Irish Red draught at Big River’s Keg Tapping party.

The meeting is to be held on March 11th, and the time is pretty flexible. But the earlier, the better!

Hope to see you all down on Broad Street on Thursday!!
