Parrothead Christmas Party

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the Phlock!

The annual River City Parrothead Club Christmas Party will be on December 18th at Don & Brenda's house at 7pm. Bring a side dish to share and BYOB (ham and turkey will be provided).

Also, you received an E-Mail with a list of patients from the nursing home that still have not been assigned to a member to help them have a great Christmas. If you have not yet picked someone from that list, please do so as soon as you can, and let Sue know who it is you have selected.
PLEASE remember to bring the gift to the Christmas party on December 18th.

June Monthly Meeting

Reminder that the Monthly meeting will be on June 25th at Logan's, on Gunbarrel Road at 6:30. We have a lot to discuss with the September concert, Community Kitchen dinner, etc. Hope to see everyone there!

Community Kitchen in June

Don’t forget that June 27th we are serving DINNER at Community Kitchen.

This will be a change for us since we're used to lunch, but, this gives us a chance to party afterward on a Saturday night. Keep an eye on your E-Mails (or check us out here) for the exact time.

April Trip Around The Sun

Aloha all,

Our birthday bash will be at Top of the Dock THIS Thursday 4/30 at 5:30pm.  Rain or shine. They are giving us a private area outside that’s all to ourselves. If we do encounter bad weather, we can move it inside.

WOW, What a show!

Hey phellow phlockers! Well, where to begin? I hope everyone has recuperated fully from the Atlanta Buffett concert last Thursday (some of us are still dragging our feet a little). As soon as I get some pictures from a few more people, I will be creating a special photo album just for this concert. Please E-Mail whatever pictures you have to me (mladd@mikeladd.com) or tell me where to go download them (i.e. Flickr, Picassa, etc...)

The board members met this past Monday and we finalized some of the bigger details for the Fall Concert (a.k.a. Island Party). We are tying up some lose ends with hotels, bands, venue, etc, and we’ll be discussing the final details with everyone soon. Stay Tuned!

The River City Parrothead Club is now on Twitter as
@rcph. You can follow updates for the club there.

The Monthly Birthday Bash is BACK! Our next Phlocking will be at Top of the Dock on Lake Resort Drive next Thursday, 4/30, at 5:30 (or whenever you can get there). Summer is upon us and, weather permitting, it’ll be nice to sit out on the deck and have a couple Landsharks and/or Margaritas with everyone. We hope to see you there.

The next business meeting will be on 5/14 at Logan’s on Gunbarrel Rd. at 6:30. We really hope everyone will be there in May as there will be a special presentation for some of those who went to the concert. It should be a lot of fun!

We’ll have some more updates soon, and we hope to see you at the Birthday Bash on 4/30, Next Thursdsay.

-Mike

April Meeting

Aloha,

Meeting this Thursday, April 9th, at Logan's on Gunbarrel around 6:30.

Bring your bus money ($25), and I believe we still have quite a few seats left, so spread the word.  Also, there are still club tickets for sale.  Please get in touch with KC ASAP, KCCharland@hotmail.com if you want tickets.

We'll be discussing the annual party and a few other things going on that we’ll need everyone’s participation on, so please try to make it.

See you Thursday!

Sue

Tickets Still Available

The River City Parrothead Club still has reserved tickets available for the April 16th concert in Atlanta and also room on the bus if you’d like to eliminate the need for driving yourself.

Please contact KC at
KCCharland@hotmail.com if you, or anyone you know, would like to go.

Tickets can only be used by persons who are in a PHIP sanctioned Parrothead Club, not just our club. There is even a “virtual” parrothead club which would allow you to use the tickets if there isn’t one in your area.

UPDATE: Buffett plays his new song at Margaritaville

I found a better link to the new Buffett song that he played in Key West at Margaritaville Cafe. In fact, it appears that Jimmy’s own staff created this one. Enjoy!!

The embedded video was taking forever to load the home page, for some reason. I had to delete it, but here is the link to Jimmy’s You Tube Channel:

Community Kitchen & Birthday Bash

We are going to consolidate the monthly “Trip Around The Sun” Birthday Bash and the Community Kitchen lunch to be on the same day. After we serve lunch at the Community Kitchen, we will be heading over to The Terminal Brewery on Market Street between 1 and 1:30pm to meet up with everyone else who couldn’t make it to the Community Kitchen. The sooner we clean up at the Kitchen, the sooner we will get to the bar.

The Terminal Brewery is one block north of Main St. on Market St., immediately south of the Choo Choo in the three story wedge shaped building. Parking is around the back off of E. 14th St.

We hope all of you can make it on Feb 28th to at least one of these events, and hopefully both!

Ok, it’s finally official. Margaritaville.com is reporting tickets for the 4/16 concert will be available on 2/7 at 10am.

Buffet is (un-officially) coming to Atlanta!

It has not been confirmed by Margaritaville.com, but both BuffettNews.com and BuffettWorld.com have reported that one of the ticket vendors has confirmed the April 16th date at Lakewood Amphitheater as hosting Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.

We’re hopeful that the ATL PHC will some more details for us by our Monthly meeting on 2/12.

PHINS UP!

Chili Cook Off Results

After hours of tasting different about 9 different chili concoctions, and washing it down with some interesting liquids, we finally came up with a winner. All of the chili was great, but Phil’s turned out to be everything we needed. Not only did it taste good, but it is easy to make, and will be cost effective to reproduce for the Community Kitchen.

So Phil’s recipe will be used on February 28th when we cook chili at The Chattanooga Community Kitchen. We’ll have more information on this at our next meeting, but I’m sure there will be plans to go out after a long day of cooking chili!

Stay Tuned!!

Chili Cook-off

The next monthly Parrothead meeting will really be a Parrothead Chili Cook-off in disguise.  We are having it at Susy's on the regular meeting date, second Thursday, January 8th at 6:30.  Please bring your favorite recipe.  The winning recipe will be duplicated when we volunteer to cook lunch at the Chattanooga Community Kitchen in February.

Please bring your own refreshments.

We will have a short meeting (promise) and will
collect club renewal dues ($25 or single, $35 for family). Dues must be paid within the next two weeks to be current for 2009 with PHIP.

Suzy’s address is 7820 Dunwoody Ave., Chatt 37421.
Here is a link to a map to get to her house. We hope to see all of you there!

Thank You from Standifer Place

One more Thank You from the 33 nursing home residents at Standifer Place that the Parrothead Members helped out for Christmas. Great job everyone!!!

This is why we do this...

From the family that we adopted. The money from the silent auction at the Christmas Party went to this family, and this is their Thank You Letter...
